What is the tonal quality of Eucalyptus?
-j.
Something akin to the mating call of a male Koala.....a deep grunting sound.

Mate it's a sound I cant describe. During the mating season we occasionally get male Koalas wandering into our backyard and the sound they make is not a sound you want to hear at 2am in the morning! Its the sound a bloke makes when hes had a skinful and is about to throw up....you know the part where youre trying to gasp for breath and throw up your stomach contents all at the same time
Them Koalas are a fussy bunch Russ.

In any given population area they'll only eat maybe one or two of the available eucalypt species.

I reckon your guitars are reasonably safe.

There was a very funny post on another forum recently where a young guy had a mouse chew the headstock of his newly finished archtop. Dont think I'd like to be that mouse.

After all these 40 years, these words are finally making some sense...

    Take me koalas back, Jack,
    Take me koalas back

Now if I can just figure out why Aussies "Tie their kangaroos down"! Why? Why? Why?................................. Sport!

With the eucalyptus I used the tap tone was a little dull but the guitar was surprizingly warm and sweet when finished. I guess the italian spruce top didn't hurt.
